The College Board has released the latest SAT results.

Nationally, the results aren't very good: the College Board found the lowest scores in nearly a decade.

But in New Mexico, it's a different story.

New Mexico students managed to raise the state's SAT average in critical reading and math across the board. New Mexico seniors averaged a score of 557 in critical reading and 548 in math, both up two points from last year.

The writing score stayed the same at 540.

New Mexico Education Secretary Veronica Garcia said more students are taking high school classes offering college credit. in 2008 3,700 New Mexican high schoolers earned credit for college.
