New Memorial Honors Fallen Rio Rancho Officer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A Rio Rancho police officer who died in the line of duty last year is honored with a new memorial Wednesday.Officer Germaine Casey was killed in a crash near the Albuquerque International Sunport in August 2007. Casey was one of the motorcycle officers escorting President George W. Bush's motorcade back to the airport after Bush made a visit to Albuquerque that day.Officers from every department involved in the motorcade attended a dedication ceremony Wednesday morning at the site of the crash for a new monument to Casey. The monument features a large granite stone with a bronze plate bearing Casey's name.
The memorial to Officer Casey sits at the Albuquerque Sunport, just feet from where he died.
