Normally, a new set is something that's simply exciting and fun -- both for station employees and for viewers. This one certainly has created a lot of buzz, but this time, it’s truly historic.
The most important part of KOAT's new set is that it is HD-ready. It's been specifically made for the unique features of high-definition television. Months of planning for the new set came together from the ground up in just a few days, starting with a brand new floor, then the set, piece by piece.

Before putting our new set together, Greg Piper worked on building the Epcot Center in Orlando. For five days Greg and his Albuquerque-based workers scrambled to help construct the set. The finished product is more than 10 feet high and 50 feet wide.

Lighting designer Chip Shane has worked on a lot of movie and news sets. For KOAT, he put dozens upon dozens of lights over the set, under the set and inside the set.
