ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- More than 230 New Mexicans in Torrance County, depend on a small water utility, to provide them with service. Residents say they've been having problems with the water company for years.Target 7 revealed how the Public Regulation Commission is taking immediate action.Residents said their water system isn't reliable.
"People need water that's a quality of life issue," resident Danielle Johnson said.Back in February, a resident filed a formal complaint with the Public Regulation Commission against Indian Hills Water Works -- complaints of substandard water and poor quality of water. Now the water company has two formal complaints against them, Danielle filed the second one."I spent all day Friday writing this up," Danielle said.Danielle said she tired of wondering whether or not she is going to have water."Friday we had no water again. Friday I think is what really fried the PRC when I called them again and said were without water,"The PRC has been investigating Indian Hills Water Works, but the agency said because residents keep having water service interruptions. They had to put the issue on their agenda.Commissioners will listen to public comment on Tuesday and the staff will make their recommendations. While the water company can not be fixed overnight, residents are counting on the PRC do something."If they can get it done, so be it," resident Aylene Waits said.Target 7 did contact the president of Indian Hills Water Works, he did not want to do an on camera interview. But he said his company is investigating all of the complaints filed against his company and will meet with the PRC if and when he is asked to do so.
