ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Action 7 News is learning more about the largest music bootlegging bust in New Mexico's history.

Court documents show undercover agents had been buying bootleg CDs from Krazy Katt Music in Albuquerque since June 14, 2001.

The Attorney General's Office said the Central Avenue business had been selling supposedly new CDs for as little as $5.

Special Agent Ed Griego worked the case from the start and said the effects of selling pirated music hurts more than the artists making the music -- it also hurts stores trying to play by the rules.

"It also affects the other local, legitimate businesses trying to make a living that have employees, that have families," Griego said.

When Target 7 tagged along with the operation, our cameras watched as the Attorney General's Office filled two vans will boxes of illegal music.

According to the search warrant inventory list, agents found a computer, two CD label makers, two CD/DVD duplicators and 35 boxes -- each full of 200 CDs.

The list also includes detail of undercover buys and more than a dozen times when agents made contact with Krazy Katt's ownership.

The Attorney General's Office has not made yet any arrests or filed any charges against the store's ownership or anyone else in connection with the case.

New Mexico law states that making and selling more than seven pirated CDs is a fourth-degree felony.
