Mystics Tab Taylor As GM

POSTED: 11:47 am MDT October 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Washington Mystics named Angela Taylor vice president and general manager on Thursday.

Taylor, who spent the last two seasons as vice president of business operations for the Minnesota Lynx, will assume her responsibilities with Washington on October 27.

The Mystics finished the 2008 campaign with the league's second worst record (10-24).

"Angela brings a wealth of basketball and business experience to the Washington Mystics," Washington chief operating officer Greg Bibb stated. "We are very fortunate to have someone with over 15 years experience in the WNBA joining our ranks. Angela has been involved with the league since its inception. She has experienced success at all levels of the game -- as a player, as a coach, as a basketball administrator and as a business leader."

Before a 10-year stint in the league's player personnel department, Taylor was an assistant coach at Texas A&M and Stanford, where she was also a member of the 1990 and '92 national championship squads.

"I look forward to putting together a great coaching staff and to building a championship caliber team for the loyal Mystics fans," Taylor said. "I also want to thank Timberwolves/Lynx Owner Glen Taylor and Lynx COO Roger Griffith for giving me the opportunity to work with the Lynx organization over the last two years."
